The Denok Workshop is the name of the artisanal cutlery workshop in Prébois. Denis Hocquet has been the artisan cutler there for over 12 years. He crafts unique, custom-made artisanal knives, as well as the “Trièvois,” which is the region’s signature knife. You’ll discover the forge-welding technique known as “Damascus,” a practice that combines different types of steel to create extraordinary patterns on the blades, as well as unmatched cutting quality and flexibility. As a self-taught craftsman, Denis Hocquet brings a contemporary dimension to blacksmithing; while many believe that fire-related crafts are ancient practices, the flame that drives him is as strong and vibrant as ever. The passion that fills this workshop will captivate both the most avid knife enthusiasts and the most curious children. For the past seven years, he has been leading knife-making workshops for beginners and professionals alike, with the goal of keeping this craft alive for many years to come. He also organizes
introductory knife-making workshops lasting 2 or 3
days, designed to showcase the various
stages of knife-making and allow participants to
take home their own creation.
