Step by step
Departure from Laffrey-Plage.
At the Laffrey Plage signpost, follow the signs towards Vizille until you reach the Lac Mort signpost.
Continue right and go around the lake on the paved road until you reach the Les Tibanes signpost.
Continue along the road until you reach the La Fretta signpost. Take the path on the left towards Saint-Pierre de Mésage. A long descent through the forest leads to the hamlet of La Frette, where the path becomes a trail. At the bottom, the path leads to the D113 departmental road.
Turn left towards Laffrey. Climb for 100 meters, cross the stream, and at the signpost, take the path on the right into the forest. Directions towards Saint-Pierre de Mésage. Follow the same directions as at the Cable à Keller, Le Chataigner, and Font Chaise signposts.
At the directional signs "Le Moulin" and "Le Grand David", in the commune of Saint Pierre de Mésage, follow "Notre Dame de Mésage". Follow the tarmac road for 100m.
At the "Oratoire de la Salette" and "Les Peyrauds" signposts, follow "Notre Dame de Mésage." The road becomes a passable road. At the "La Cure" signpost, take the paved road on the right towards "Vizille." Pass the "Chapelle de Notre Dame" signpost. At the town hall, cross the road.
At the "Notre Dame Mésage" signpost, follow "Vizille." Caution! 50 meters further on, in the town hall parking lot, at the "Chapelle des Templiers" signpost, head left towards Vizille. Go down the path into the forest. At the paved road, follow the direction of Vizille on the right and follow the road for 200 meters.
The signposts indicate a left turn followed by a right turn in a residential area. A path leads to the banks of the Romanche River. Turn left towards Vizille and follow the path along the river. Go under the large bridge. At the next signpost, turn left and join the paved road leading to the bridge. Turn left and cross the bridge. The tourist office and Vizille Castle are located straight ahead in the downtown.
