Introduction
Make your own hat, sized to fit you, out of cattail—a water plant that’s very common in France. We’ll be harvesting it one morning.
Making a hat on a mold using several traditional basketry techniques: checkerboard weave, super weave, torch weave, and edging. The workshop is led by Ghislaine Deniau, a CAP-certified basketry artisan and professional instructor. The process is explained and demonstrated step by step, and participants receive individual attention thanks to small class sizes (5 people maximum). Open to participants ages 16 and up (with parental consent).
