Introduction
The Merlé climbing site is quiet with a beautiful view over the southern massif. The sector is ideal for a skilled climber: difficulty between 5c and 6c and height of 25m. The climbing is varied and technical, with holes, cracks and rulers.
The equipment is excellent on 12mm studs and stainless steel belays supplied by the Isère CDFFME.the equipment is fairly close together, especially on the difficult pitches.children or average climbers should be able to head off.
The climbing is varied and technical, with holes, cracks and rulers. The routes often begin gently in a base that is sometimes still a little dirty. This sector is ideal for a skilled climber: difficulty between 5c and 6c and height 25m.With 14 quickdraws and a 60m rope, you'll be fine; with 50m, you'll be just fine, so don't forget the knot at the end of the rope.Altitude: 1030m.
Exposure: south-east, sunny from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., so can be climbed almost all year round, ideal in the morning in winter and late afternoon in summer...Approach: 10 min: easy and almost flat up to the initiation sector, then a small 4m vertical fixed rope leads down to the ledge.
The site is very quiet, with a beautiful view of the southern Ecrins massif and the Grand Veymont... You can climb on a sunny and comfortable ledge, but it's always better to stay on the long side, as there's a small cliff below... I think it's possible to climb with children, but everyone appreciates danger differently... In any case, be very careful.cohabitation: hunters often frequent the area, and should certainly be avoided when hunting.

Parking: on the place du four à pain in Saint-Andéol, next to the garbage cans. New access: follow the path to the telephone pole at the top of the large field; then follow the horizontal path to the right; pass the barbed-wire fence and the tree across it. Continue along the more or less level path in the field (with a few passages under trees) until you come out at a small hidden passage (small cairn, lowered barbed wire) slightly (15m) below the top of the field. Follow the obvious path almost sideways through the forest, becoming slightly exposed and slightly uphill at the end. You arrive at the initiation sector: beautiful terrace under a small pine tree (4 small routes of 10/15m, fairly well equipped, level between 4a and 5a but rock a little average). Continue for another 30m, first slightly uphill, then slightly downhill, until you reach the top of a 4m vertical fixed rope that you can easily unclimb. The maincourante continues on a small ledge, first passing under old routes with often overhanging starts and slightly outdated equipment (being cleaned and re-equipped). The "oiseau rare" slab is just beyond.
