Introduction

Follow in the footsteps of the Charbonnières de Saint Guillaume, once used to produce charcoal. They were restored to working order in 2010 as part of a heritage project run by village volunteers.

Step by step

Departure: Park alongside the RD8a between Gresse en
Vercors and Saint Guillaume, at Les Baumettes. A
roadside departure sign.
The trail starts on the other side of the road, at the level of the
piste des Baumaises.
A free downloadable booklet recounts the history of the forest
and the charbonnières.
1) From the parking area, cross the road carefully
take the slightly uphill track opposite (hiking signpost
hiking signpost).
2) A little further up, take the yellow/green path marked
right which climbs steadily until it joins the track.
3) Continue along the track until you reach the charbonnières
charbonnières, above the track. Information
are present.
4) Return by the same route.
