Introduction

The gîte de l'Esquirou offers you a quiet, cozy nest in a hamlet at 840 m altitude at the foot of the Châtel and Obiou mountains (2789 m) in the Trièves.
The gîte and surrounding area have been renovated and refurbished with respect for the environment.

Hélène and David are delighted to welcome you at the foot of the Obiou (2789 m), between the Vercors Regional Nature Park and the Écrins National Park. Our gîte is an ideal base for exploring this region of the Alps in the Trièves territory.
Situated at an altitude of 840m in a hamlet of ten or so houses, the Esquirou gîte (meaning "squirrel" in Occitan) is a calm and cosy nest.

- The gîte sleeps 4 people.
- It has 2 levels
- It is surrounded by 235 m² of grounds.
- The living area is 56 m² (84 m² if you include the sloping ceilings <1.80 m)
- Completely renovated between 2010 and 2014
- The gîte adjoins an uninhabited barn; it is located close to the owners' house.

Sustainable Tourism

The gîte de l'Esquirou has been awarded the "4 feuilles" label, the highest level of the "Ecotourisme en Trièves" charter. - Hot water is produced by solar panels, and heating is mainly wood-fired. Electricity comes from the grid with an Enercoop subscription (renewable energies). - For waste, we provide a compost bin for biodegradable materials. The building has been renovated using low-impact materials: wood, terracotta, hemp bricks, wood wool and cork. - Exterior landscaping has been designed to encourage local flora and fauna.
