Introduction

The highest point in the Dévoluy massif, the Grande Tête de l'Obiou is climbed on an alpine-type path, in a vertical, mineral world. Without being mountaineering, a sure footedness is required in the aerial passages.

A short stroll through the alpine pastures will allow you to warm up while enjoying the fresh air circulating between the Gapençais, Dévoluy and Trièves regions, and to observe the western slopes overlooking the Lac du Sautet. Your guide will be able to give you an overview of the landscape, identify local species and tell you about the local history.

The atmosphere changes for the second part, which is much more mineral, and where you'll need to tread carefully. Variations are possible, depending on the level of the group (vein, cave...).
You'll be able to observe the particular shapes and understand how they were formed.

The summit offers a vast panorama of the Dauphiné massif, the Pre-Alps and Mont Blanc.
